Updated: Feb 18, 2021
With spooky season right around the corner, it's time to start getting in the Halloween spirit. If you want to have a spooktacular halloween, but can’t stand scary horror movies, this is the list for you. It’s time to get into the halloween spirit with some of the silliest horror movies.
***After Watching some great horror movies, I had to add some new silly horror comedy films to this list***
***This is an ever evolving list that will hopefully never actually be complete. I will keep adding low budget horror and really awful in a funny way horror films to this list as I view them. I have linked to all of these movies so you can watch for yourself***
Llamageddon Silly Meter 2/10
Llamageddeon I'm not going to lie this is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination but it was so bad that it was fun. Not good, fun. Some highlights: (1) an actual living llama played the evil llama, (2) one character literally has a different shirt on every scene, and (3) they close out the movie with an original rap about Llamageddeon. I don't think you should skip this one. I love low budget horror films because they know what they are and are willing to be silly and experiment. This is a bad film, but by supporting it you're supporting new ideas and independent film makers.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space. Silly Meter 6/10
Killer Klowns From Outer Space is a great campy horror film from the 80's about Alien clowns that come from outer space to kill people and I think turn them into Cotton Candy? I'm honestly not sure what their goal was but they were definitely killing people. This movie was a fun romp and is definitely is worth a watch.
Wolf Cop. Silly Meter 6/10
Wolfcop is a superhero, buddy cop, horror movie about Lou Garou, an alcoholic cop who gets turned into a werewolf. Garou has to fight crime and the occult as the wolf cop. This movie is a fun romp that does not take itself very seriously.
Teeth. Silly Meter 6.5/10
Teeth is a crude horror comedy film that spoofs classic tropes of teen horror films and adds an interesting perspective on female empowerment and abstinence only education. I’m not going to sugar coat this at all, Dawn, the main character has teeth in her vagina and a lot of penis’s get cut off.
Mom and Dad. Silly Meter 7/10
Mom and Dad. So I have no idea if this was low budget or not all I know is that Nick Cage makes this movie. The plot is bananas, for some reason all the adults in this town want to murder their children but only their own children. Also Nick Cage plays a dad who clearly peaked in high school and its just bonkers. This movie is genuinely good its so silly and a super enjoyable watch.
Zombeavers. Silly Meter 7/10
This campy, low budget horror comedy film asks the questions, what if toxic chemicals spilled into a river and turned a colony of beavers into zombies? This low budget romp follows a group of three girls and their boyfriends on their weekend away at a lakeside cabin as they try and survive an onslaught of zombie beavers.
Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Silly Meter 8/10
This horror comedy film is a parody of The Cabin in the Woods and follows Tucker and Dale, two well-meaning hillbillies that are mistaken for killers by a group of college kids camping near their cabin. Throughout the film, the college kids keep accidentally killing themselves as they try and attack tucker and dale, furthering their belief that Tucker and Dale are evil.
Jeepers Creepers 2. Silly Meter 9/10
Jeepers Creepers 2 is the poorly executed sequel to the somewhat scary Jeepers Creepers movie. What makes this movie so special and so funny is that the director thought that he made a good movie. This movie is hysterical, it’s riddled with continuity errors, bad acting, and awful costume design.
Snakes on a Plane 10/10
I just recently watched Snakes on a Plane and it's an instant favorite. I don't know how I put off watching it this long, this film is amazing. This movie is an easy number one all time horror comedy, however, it does not beat our number one on this list, though its a close second. I would 100% recommend watching this film.
The Velocipastor. Silly Meter 10/10
This low budget action horror comedy film knows exactly what it is and plays to its absurdity and low budget. The story follows Doug Jones, a priest who travels to China after his parents death and becomes the “Dragon Warrior.” Jones turns into a velociraptor when he gets angry and teams up with a prostitute to fight crime as the velocipastor.
Bigfoot: The Movie. Silly Meter 11/10
Do you like Bigfoot? Do you like beer? Do you like fun? if you answered yes to any of these questions than this is the movie for you. This movie is about 3 Yinzers who are trying to avenge their friends death by hunting Bigfoot. I don't want to spoil anything but you need to watch Bigfoot: the Movie.
Troll 2. Silly Meter 20/10
Troll 2 might just be one of the greatest films ever created. This film is a romp from the second it starts. What makes Troll 2 an instant classic has to be a mix of a terribly funny script, awful acting, an insanely low budget, and one of the most ridiculously out there plots. This movie is one of my all time favorites and in honor of it’s 30th birthday on Monday October 12th, we should all give it a watch.
